eighty five degrees

...is how hot it is in my apartment. Damn living on the top floor! Dan said I should get a vornado because if it's good enough for John Faye, than it's good enough for me.

Identity

I will post my entire thoughts about Identity later when my head isn't throbbing and I am not about to go to bed. But wow, Identity...

Seven years...seven years of Pat McGee Band and Identity. Before messageboards, there were listservs. And funny how I know people from Identity longer than I have known people in the flesh. Then again, not funny because its perfectly understandable because we are a cluster of like people: crazy roadtrips, love for music, we like to drink, we're geeks who seek out the perfect live recording and gem of a cover or rare tune.

Identity has been resurrected and it reminded me of high school and college, how when everything else was falling apart and I was finding myself, I always had Identity and I loved it. Heck, I met my closest guy friend in college through Identity. Identity sent me to new states and exposed me to new music. The most recent thread is about wedding songs and it dawned on me how much we have all grown together and probably haven't realized it. We've all had Identity hookups, we all have shared non music stories with each other, we've all cordinated road trips together...it was a transcendental listserv. And though we have brought most of our conversations to AIM and at shows and we all know what most of each other are doing with our lives now, it's so weird to have been in contact with such a mix of people from high school to college to real life. I think it hit me when I noticed that most of the e-mail addresses were from internet providers and work, and not a college e-mail addy.

And you know we all still share that common secret bond because even though we aren't in college anymore and we have real e-mail address...we still travel over 200 miles on a work night for two hours worth of music and a lifetime of memories.

leprosy and stalkers

Sorry for the random postings, but I have a massive headache and am only thinking in spurts.

I have bandaids all over my feet due to walking around the city in sandals on Sunday. Danielle asked what was wrong, and since I scraped all of the skin off of my palms (my running incident), I still don't have feeling in my index fingertip (the knife accident), and I wore a skirt today thus exposing my two skinned knees (see above mention about running incident), I informed her that I am not a klutz, but that I have leprosy and my skin is falling off.

Right before this conversation, I encountered Weird Guy #3 on my floor. We have a sign outside of our door saying who we are. The sign is not an open invitation for guys in bands to come strolling in and telling me their bands life story. So this guy saw me in the hallway before and asked me about my work, in which I briefly answered his questions and brushed him off. Then today he comes strolling in and lays a press kit on my desk and continues to talk to me, as if he can't see that I am in the middle of working. He then informs me that he spoke to the other guys I work with and that they are expecting the press kit. After he leaves, I ask Laura the deal, and she said he pounced on our boss after he came out of the restroom, and that there was no invitation to drop off a kit. As Danielle, Laura, and I are talking about my leprosy, Rich runs into the office, literally. I told him that our friend stopped by and he said that he knows, which is why he ran into the office, to avoid him. Too funny. But seriously, WHO JUST WALKS IN AND HANDS A MANAGEMENT COMPANY THEIR SORRY PRESS KIT!?!?!

I have one of those headaches that has lasted all day and that I know I am going to pass out from since the pain is so intense. Yay for health insurance so I can finally get these recurring headaches checked out. They're going to tell me that I am too stressed and that I should lay off the caffeine. Like hell those two are going to change.

Sunday in the city...

I started off my Sunday with work related phone calls, then headed into the city. I ate lunch at Moby's restaurant under Laura's recommendation - plus she saw M. Doughty chilling there last time she went...sold! The place is called Teany and is fabulous. Absolutely fabulous. I was enjoying my pan bagnia and pomengrate white tea when I looked over towards the street and a photographer was all up in the window taking pictures inside Teany. There may have been ten tables tops in there. I glance around and don't see anyone familiar, but what the heck do I know, I barely watch TV and haven't seen a movie in months. He directed his lens at our table a few times - gotta peruse those tabloids to see if I'm spotted haha. I love the lower east side.
